Sintra’s Mountain
The Sintra-Cascais Natural Park is in the district of Lisbon and is distributed by municipalities of Sintra and Cascais, ranging from the northern municipality of Sintra, near the mouth of the River Hawk down to the south of Cascais Citadel.
With the development of civilization and its needs, the question arose of protection of this region, namely the Protected Landscape Area of Sintra-Cascais, being a sensitive area environmental and landscape level, which has for its natural values, cultural and aesthetic, thus arises the concern to preserve such beauty, fauna and flora, trying to maintain the ecological balance and protection of natural values present.
Between a horticultural land plain and the Atlantic Ocean, where the granite massif reaches a maximum height of 528 meters, in Cruz Alta, the Serra de Sintra is presented as a magical place, full of mysticism, with a unique flora and paradise wildlife, this mountain is in the heart of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Its unique features along with its cultural landscape magic allowed Sintra was classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, considered the only example in the world.
Also known as Moon Hill, which offers a mood, energy and mythical connotations, from the microclimate that enveloped in mists ghostly, joining the flora that suffers a mythical aura along with a fauna among foxes, riders, moles, salamanders, vipers that here is hidden among oaks, oaks and pine meek, the Serra de Sintra calls by its magic.
