For those wishing to visit the Serra de Monchique, will be visiting a mountainous area with a great plant diversity, a natural heritage which requires contemplation and crystalline streams, outlining meander in the bottom of the valley, a paradise for lovers nature. Up to the Picota or to the highest point of the Algarve, Foia, it is possible here to observe the extent of the landscape that goes from the Cape St. Vincent to Arrábida. Here again, worthy of a visit is the mill Poucochinho in Barranco of Pisões, where they can enjoy a good rest in the shade of one of the many trees classified existing in the hills of Monchique – A Maple. However, the obligatory passage is Caldas de Monchique, where there is a square surrounded by large trees and fountains, as the spa are lapped by mineromedicinal water springs, used since ancient times by the Romans. In this mountain range are found several waterfalls, including the cascade of Barbelote which is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Monchique municipality, there is already an access for cars from the road Largo-Barbelote Valley and for those who walk, also there is already a small pedestrian access; the cascade of Chilrão is near the road that connects to Marmelete Chilrão and Hole Penedo Cascade which is near a paved road and thus has favorable conditions to be visited.

In Boi Valley, is the Mine Park, a theme park that includes a house of the beginning of the eighteenth century, an old farmhouse, which is populated by more than a hundred varieties of birds, ponies and dwarf goats, the recreation a distillery arbutus and charcoal. You can still visit a disused mine ore extraction.

Mandatory stops are also the sights, such as San Sebastian, in the center of the town of Monchique, in San Sebastian Park, where one can see the entire urban area of the town of Monchique; the viewpoint of Fóia; the viewpoint of Picota; the viewpoint of Fonte Santa that allows all views of the coast of the western Algarve; the viewpoint of Caldas in Caldas de Monchique, on the site of Bath Barranco and an interesting archaeological zone, being a good starting point for exploring the South slope of Picota, which covers the entire view of Caldas de Monchique and still notes a good part of the historical path of Bath Barranco; in Alferce are several viewpoints: White Barreiras, Monte Velho, Demo Barranco, height Choça, height Benafátima; Finally, the viewpoint of the peaks on the highest hill in Marmelete in Cerros of peaks, and offers a view of the village and on the Algarve coast.

In Portugal there is a valuable and priceless heritage of centuries-old trees and centuries or even millennia. In the town of Monchique we can find some that were classified as being in the public interest. For their age and size, these trees are strictly protected.

• Plantains “Platanus hybrida Brot” – Species monoecious deciduous. alternate leaves with thick petioles. unisexual flowers. It is situated in the Barranco Pisões about 3 km north of the town of Monchique. It is a large tree that is over 35 meters high. Commonly used as an ornament in parks, gardens and avenues, also this maple was tapped as picnic park ornament that is here. This century-old tree was classified as public interest in 08/05/1947.
• Magnolia ‘Grandiflora L. “- evergreen tree. whole leaves. Flowers at the ends of branches, initially conic then cupuliform. This copy, which is thought to be the largest in the European continent, is located near the Convent of Our Lady of Exile. It is thought to have been brought from India by the founder of the monastery, dating from 1631.
• Araucaria “Heterophylla” – diotic Species. evergreen tree. horizontal branches something outstanding. Leaves ovate to triangular, thick and leathery. It is a large tree, very resistant to wind and salinity, originating from the small Norfolk Island in Australia. The two centuries Araucárias the town of Monchique, are located in Quinta do diverter with total height: 40.00 m; average crown diameter: 16.50 m .; rating on 08.14.1993 and Quinta da Vila, with total height: 34.00 m; average crown diameter: 18,50 m; classification target 14/08/1993. In February 1941 a cyclone left the arrows of these two trees. At present already have a second arrow.
• Oak “Quercus canariensis Willd” – tree up to 30 meters wide canopy. Sprigs densely woolly. Leaves up to 18 cm, marcescentes, sinuadocrenadas or lobed. This species formed once the original tree cover of the mountain. Currently the distribution is much smaller occurring mainly through isolated trees. The Monchique mountains is the only place where the species occurs in the country.
