Batalha Monastery
A monument that aims to remember the battle of Aljubarrota and royal pantheon, and their works began in the fourteenth century under the patronage of King John I, this is one of the great built copies of the Portuguese Gothic style. Its vast dependencies are an example of the evolution of medieval architecture to the sixteenth century, so from the late Gothic to the Manueline decoration. This monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. After three years of the Battle of Aljubarrota (August 14, 1385), this monastery started its construction process, as voting John I to the Virgin, it is defeated Castilian invader, thus being able to resume the independence of Portugal, born thus also the new Avis Dynasty. On the side of this square is the Equestrian Monument of the Constable D. Nuno Alvares Pereira, 1968, which aims to immortalize the hero commander of the Battle of Aljubarrota.
Museum Concelhia Community
Having been elected as Best Portuguese, in 2012, the Portuguese Association of Museology and was awarded the prize Kenneth Hudson, in 2013, in Belgium, and is inserted into the line design of the New Museology and Socio-museology, valuing the identity and history of Battle and citizens. This museum is assumed as the center of living culture, housing research functions, conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage and the local people life from the geological, paleontological and archaeological sources, through the historical and artistic events, to the days of today.
Alta Estremadura Ethnographic Museum
Also known as Casa da Madalena, this is present in Rebolaria since 2000 and was rebuilt a Extremenian house of the nineteenth century, preserving its architectural features lines that go back three different times. This is a core of ethnographic miniatures exhibition, musical instruments, costumes, parts of the battle sites, agricultural implements and tools various professions. This museum is a building of the eighteenth and nineteenth century, has been restored to house the museum functions and is administered by the Folkloric Lena Roses. This is divided between three different areas for recreation of Extremadura home.
Museum of Offerings to the Unknown Soldier
It lies within the Monastery of Batalha, this museum is owned by the League of Combatants, which in your living room offer a collection of offerings the Unknown Soldier and the Chapter of the room is a tomb.
Nossa Senhora do Fetal Chapel
Built in the year 1585, with “with the alms of the faithful Christians” as an inscription, which now disappeared. In this place there was also another hermitage, but are not traces of this. This hermitage was searched the tiles from Juncal factory, in the late eighteenth century.
Exaltação de Santa Cruz Mother Church
His work began in 1514, with great appeal of the people who were asking a parish church, leaving only completed in the year 1532, with a Manueline architecture, specifically in the portal, Baroque and revivalist. In the year 1858, due to a strong shock, the wooden ceiling collapsed, promoting and heightening shot of the bell tower in 1908. In 2001, the Manueline portico, Boitaca masterly, was recovered. At the back of this church is the Chapel of the Holy House of Mercy, originated from the XVIII century.
Boutaca Bridge
Exemplar unique in Portugal with four toll houses, which formerly served as collection passage. This bridge was built in 1862 in the reign of King Louis, standing on the river of Calvary, currently one of the mandatory stopping points in the battle. This Public Interest has a revivalist and neo-Gothic traces.
